  • FREE

Visit Fort Edwards and tour the garden and plants as they would have been grown in the 1750s. Learn about the plants they grew and why they grew them by instructor Todd McCree . Plants were used for food, medicine, dyes, and companion planting. Explore how they grew plants without the help of modern nurseries. Learn about plant propagation techniques, from simple methods like planting seeds and hardwood rooting to complex methods like softwood rooting, layering, grafting, and tipping.

Learn about the history of blacksmithing and how it was used in the 1750s by artisan Rob Wolford. See a blacksmith in action as they create tools and utensils from iron and steel. This is a great opportunity to learn about a lost art and see how it was used in the past.
