A Keep the Cacapon River Clean Initiative
Capon Bridge, West Virginia - The Friends of the Cacapon River, the River House and Trout Unlimited are hosting a fly-fishing celebration on Saturday, July 22, and Sunday, July 23, 2022. The event will feature art activities and beginner fly-fishing clinics at the River House, located at 24 Rickie Davy Lane, Capon Bridge, WV.
Expert instructors will teach 3 introductory fly-fishing classes perfect for kids, parents or anyone wanting to learn how to fly fish. Each 3-hour session covers the basics of fly-fishing, casting techniques and hands-on step-by-step instructions.
“The Cacapon River watershed offers some of the best fly-fishing opportunities in the region!” said Glenn Archer, Vice President of the Friends of the Cacapon River. “We have incredible teachers and it will be a fun day along the Cacapon River.”
The fly-fishing classes will be by the river behind the River House. The clinics are Saturday, July 22 at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., and Sunday, July 23 at 9 a.m. Everything is provided except river shoes. Participants will get a chance to try their new skills in the river.
The class is only $10 per person. Preregistration is required for the fly-fishing clinics and participants should have a WV fishing license. (A license is not required for those 15 years old or younger). The license can be purchased at https://wvdnr.gov/buy-a-license/.
Each session is limited to 15 people and spots fill up quickly.
