Writer's Club

Like to write? Join our Writer's Club!

We have expanded the vision for the Poetry in the Afternoon club to encompass all types of writing. Our mission is to create a space for budding and established writers to gather together to share their experiences. In addition, we will be featuring guest speakers and book signing events. Everyone is invited to attend. We look forward to seeing you there!

Writer’s Club will be held on the 3rd Sunday of every month.

This month we welcome writer, Jane Ellen Freeman to Writer’s Club!

Ms. Freeman relocated from Morgantown, WV, to the eastern panhandle of West Virginia recently and lives south of Shepherdstown, WV, near the Potomac River.

Jane Ellen Freeman is a former middle school language arts teacher who has been writing for over twenty years. Organizations are the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), West Virginia Writers Association, and Florida Writers Association. Ms. Freeman has several short stories published in FWA anthologies and has a story in a recent anthology of ghost stories published by Four Seasons Bookstore located in Shepherdstown, WV. Two published chapter books, JEREMIAH LUCKY AND THE GUARDIAN ANGEL and JEREMIAH LUCKY FINDS PUPPY LOVE earned the PAL listing with SCBWI. Two additional books were published in 2019: THE WHISPERING CHIMNEY, a middle grade story (Ingram Spark), and BEYOND THE STONE EAGLE GATE, a historical fiction ghost story (KDP) which was a Finalist in 2020’s FWA Royal Palm Literary Awards competition. Ms. Freeman has been a judge for FWA’s RPLA competition and often works as an editor for FWA’s Editors Helping Writers division. Her own entries to this large writing competition have frequently earned Finalist designations and her YA speculative fiction story (CROSS OVER) placed in the top three in an earlier RPLA.
