The Jo Murray Arts Education Fund

The River House is establishing the Jo Murray Arts Education Fund (JMAE) in honor of its founding executive director who led the organization with dedication and passion for its first five years. Nurturing the arts among young people was one of Jo’s primary inspirations for The River House as she firmly believed in the power of the arts to not only bring youth enjoyment but help them develop critical positive skills and capacities including collaboration, creative thinking, problem solving, motivation and more.

The River House has a goal of raising $15,000 to support its arts education programming in 2022 and continue to nurture the seeds that Jo planted in our community.

Funds will support existing programming and allow The River House to expand offerings for youth both on-site as well as in partnership with the local school system and homeschool community. Field trips, summer academies, camps, community arts projects, arts clubs, internships and more will flourish with the support of this new fund.

Please join us in supporting youth arts education with a gift to the
Jo Murray Arts Education Fund.

You can make your contribution by clicking below and indicate with a note that your gift is for the JMAE Fund.

Or, send a check made out to The River House noting the contribution is for the JMAE Fund.

 Give at half the cost!

The West Virginia Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP) recently announced that The River House was allocated $10,000 in NIP tax credits! Qualifying gifts of $500 to $4,000 can be made to The River House to earn a 50% West Virginia income tax credit for the donor.

So if you make a lump sum gift of $500, you will receive a tax credit voucher to take $250 off your 2021 WV income taxes.  Gift $1,000 and you'll get $500 back.  It's like a 1/2 price sale!

All donations will be dedicated to the special Johanna Murray Arts Education Fund and will be used for outreach to children, field trips for the local schools and the home school community.

Donors may use the credits to reduce liability for West Virginia Personal Income Tax or Corporate Net Income Tax by up to 50% per year, and you have up to five years to use all the credits

Credits are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.  We expect to use all these credits so act now to reserve yours!

We ask that all contributions be made by check by no later than December 15, 2021.

We appreciate your support of this very important program. Please contact our NIP Fundraising Chair, Tim Reese (timothyareese@gmail.com), to make your pledge or if you have any questions.

Thank you!
