Join us as we welcome Kate MacLeod to The River House!
Americana musician Kate MacLeod is an award-winning songwriter and fiddle player, a skilled guitarist, and player of the mountain dulcimer. Through her original songs, surprise covers, and the magic of traditional music, she'll have you singing along to our stories that are told through music. She has a large repertoire that includes songs about historic characters, miners, sailors, river runners, pioneer women, ancestors, and unique love songs.
Her musical history includes Classical training on violin and the various fiddle styles of North America, Ireland, and Scotland. Kate's songs have been covered by other artists such as Laurie Lewis and Mollie O’Brien in Bluegrass, Celtic, and American Folk genres. Her original fiddle music has been used in numerous documentary soundtracks. She has sung with some of the best, such as Tim O’Brien, who produced her “Blooming" recording. These days she shares her time between two mountain ranges, the Rockies of the West in Utah and the Appalachians of the east in West Virginia. She was awarded Best of the West by the Far-West Division of Folk Alliance International for her contribution to folk music and her mentoring of other musicians. Among her many projects, Kate is working on studying and recording the music of Kentucky-born American Folk musician Jean Ritchie. Kate will be performing at the River House with accompanying musicians Paul Hammerton and John Bryant.
